CAN ONLINE LEARNING BE FUN?
The Need
The client loves our in-person Guided Improve™ management workshops – talented facilitators acting out dramatic scenarios full of humor, real-life challenges, and lessons that last. But their company has a new mandate: increase online training. So she asks: can you somehow bring that magic into our new online training portal?
Our Solution
The HartLG team was able to leverage our extensive video production experience, which ranges from broadcast television to viral videos and educational programs. Working closely with the client, we crafted a series of witty, relevant scripts that depicted interesting characters grappling with real organizational challenges.
The client had input at every stage of development, from considering options in our first Idea Paper, to approving the final shooting scripts and production budget. We shot the scenes at one of the client’s locations, using some of our favorite actors and production specialists.
Results
The videos became the centerpiece of the company’s highly successful online learning platform. The portal served as a proof of concept that has led to further development and enhancement. While in-person training remains essential for building interpersonal skills, there is an important role for concise, “on demand” digital curriculum. It serves as an introduction for new hires, and a refresher for those who want to keep the learning alive.
